CHARLES BURRELL JR.

Charles H. “Chuck” Burrell, Jr., 79, of Hesperia, passed away on Thursday afternoon, June 21, 2007 at Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont.

He was born on July 19, 1927 in Muskegon to Charlie and Arlie (Noble) Burrell. He was a 1945 graduate of Fremont High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On Sept. 24, 1949, he joined Dorothy (Jackie) Farber in marriage in Hesperia. He was a carpenter and served as the Newfield Township Clerk for 22 years. He belonged to American Legion Post 411 and retired as a maintenance man from the Newaygo County Medical Care Facility. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, fly tying, hunting, gardening and bird watching.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie; three sons, Brad (Becky) Burrell of Hesperia, Tony (Sherrie) Burrell of Fremont, and Todd (Rosemary) Burrell of Hesperia; a daughter, Tracey (David) Craig of Hesperia; six grandchildren, Justin Craig, and Steve, John, Emily, Brooke and Heather Burrell; two brothers, Jack (Evelyn) Burrell of Hesperia and Richard (Sharon) Burrell of Walkerville; three sisters, Eloda (Paul) Scanlon of Holton, Sandy (Carl) Arrasmith of Fremont, and Judy Smith of Fremont; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Arlie (Garret) DeGroot; his father, Charlie (Ruth) Burrell; two sisters, Lorraine Larrimore and Artis Purdee; a brother-in-law, George Larrimore; and a nephew, Brent Scanlon.

Cremation has taken place. A time for visiting with family and friends was held on Saturday, June 30 at Christ the King Church Hall in Hesperia to celebrate Chuck’s life. Arrangements by Raymond Funeral Home in Hesperia.
