The special school board meeting of the Fremont Board of Education was called to order by Vice President Karla Gilliland at 7:00 p.m.

Present: Ed Wosinski, Karla Gilliland, Linda Blais, Matt Hendrie, Jim Featherstone and Phil Harmon

Absent: Anita Osterman

Karla Gilliland, Vice President, led the Pledge of Allegiance. #4871- Motion by Jim Featherstone and seconded by Phil Harmon to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of March 3, 2008. Ayes – 6; Nays – 0. Motion carried. #4872 – Motion by Phil Harmon and seconded by Jim Featherstone to approve the agenda for tonight’s meeting. Ayes – 6; Nays – 0. Motion carried. #4873 -- Motion by Phil Harmon and seconded by Jim Featherstone to go into closed session at 7:05 p.m. in accordance with MCL 15.268 Sub-section 8(b) to consider discipline of (3) High School students. Ayes – 6, Roll Call Vote: Linda Blais, Ed Wosinski, Karla Gilliland, Matt Hendrie, Phil Harmon and Jim Featherstone; Nays – 0. Motion carried. Returned to Open Session at 9:50 p.m. #4874—Action Agenda – Motion by Jim Featherstone and seconded by Ed Wosinski to approve the 180-day expulsion of A High School student whose identity is known to the Board for violation of the Michigan Safe & Drug-Free Schools Act. Ayes – 6, Roll Call Vote: Ed Wosinski, Karla Gilliland, Linda Blais, Matt Hendrie, Jim Featherstone and Phil Harmon; Nays – 0. Motion carried. #4875— Motion by Ed Wosinski and seconded by Linda Blais to approve 180-day suspension pending arrangements and stipulations set forth by the Superintendent of A High School student whose identity is known to the Board for violation of the Michigan Safe & Drug-Free Schools Act. Ayes – 5, Roll Call Vote: Ed Wosinski, Karla Gilliland, Linda Blais, Matt Hendrie and Jim Featherstone Nays – 1, Phil Harmon. Motion carried. #4876-- Motion by Ed Wosinski and seconded by Linda Blais approve 180-day suspension pending arrangements and stipulations set forth by the Superintendent of A High School student whose identity is known to the Board for violation of the Michigan Safe & Drug-Free Schools Act. Ayes – 5, Roll Call Vote: Ed Wosinski, Karla Gilliland, Linda Blais, Matt Hendrie and Jim Featherstone; Nays – 1, Phil Harmon. Motion carried. #4877– Motion by Ed Wosinski and seconded by Phil Harmon to adjourn the meeting at 10:00 p.m. Ayes - 6; Nays – 0. Motion carried.
