BUS RIDER RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

 

TO THE PARENTS OF CHILDREN RIDING PUBLIC SCHOOL BUSES:

The rules and regulations listed below are the results of careful study based upon the experience we have had in the operation of our school bus system. Cooperation and courtesy in following these rules will permit us to better serve all children who ride public school buses. Please review these rules with your children, sign  the designated area for your signature, and have your child return this to their bus driver.

 

PARENT RESPONSIBILITY

1.     To insure their children are at the designated bus stop 5 minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive. The driver is responsible for this schedule and cannot wait for tardy pupils.

2.     To provide necessary protection of their children to and from the bus stop.

3.     To accept joint responsibility with the school authorities for proper conduct of their children.   

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

1.     Expect to walk some distance to a bus stop following state regulations.

2.     Stay off the roadway at all times when waiting for the bus.

3.     Cross in front of the bus when crossing the roadway- at least 10 feet in front of the bus, and cross only after the driver’s signal.

4.     Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before attempting to enter or leave the bus. Remain seated  when the bus is in motion. No changing from seat to seat.

5.     Expect to sit 3 students per seat if needed.

6.     Keep feet out of the aisles, off the seats and the backs of seats. Face forward at all times.

7.     Keep your head , arms and hands inside bus at all times.

8.     No eating or drinking on bus; no tobacco products at any time.

9.     No indecent language.

10. Radios/headphones are not allowed in school or on the bus.

11. The driver may assign seats; driver is in full charge of the bus.

GENERAL  GUIDELINES

Students may ride only their assigned bus and get on and off only at their designated stop. Any and all changes must be made in writing to the Transportation Supervisor prior to the change.
