The Food Service Department at Daisy Brook School offers the students a nutritional
breakfast (.85) and lunch (1.35) each day, the milk price is 30 cents. Breakfast
usually consists of cereal, milk, another bread item, and either fruit or juice.
At lunch three main dishes are offered each day with one of them being a
PBJ with yogurt or a cheese stick. As well as the choice of a main entre the
students can select from at least 4-6 fruits and vegetables, and may chose
either chocolate or white milk.
Desserts/treats are offered at least once a
week and extra bread/rolls are available for those hungry students.
A computerized "debit" card system is used for each child's meal account. Parents are asked to prepay for at least 5 meals at a time. Deposits of $50 or more receive a 6% bonus amount added to the child's account and deposits of $200 or more receive a 10% bonus. Prepayment of meals saves a lot of clerical time depositing money each day and following up on charges.
At breakfast or lunch time the child picks up their lunch card from the card
rack at the beginning of the line and then self-serves their meal selections.
At the end of the serving line the student deposits their card in a basket
and the card is scanned through the computer immediately after lunch deducting
the appropriate amount off their account.
Parents can call the cafeteria to
check on current balances. Once a child's account is negative by $1.00 or more
an "overdue slip" will
be sent home. Printed out data histories are also available for those parents
needing that information. For questions call Connie Buter at 924-8295 or Denise
McDaniel at 924-8160.
